Calabogie Secondary Plan

Urban Design
Planning & Policy

Township of Greater Madawaska

Calabogie, Ontario

2025-Ongoing

Matrix Heritage and CIMA+

The Village of Calabogie is currently undergoing changes and facing growth pressures driven by tourism, residential development, infrastructure investment, and evolving community needs. As a waterfront community with significant natural and cultural assets, careful planning is required to ensure that growth enhances rather than detracts from the character and environmental integrity of the area.

The Secondary Plan will allow the Township to proactively manage growth, clarify development expectations, coordinate infrastructure planning, and protect natural heritage features. It provides a comprehensive framework that balances housing needs, economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and quality of life. By establishing clear policies and priorities, the Plan reduces uncertainty for residents, landowners, and investors while ensuring development aligns with community values and long-term sustainability goals.
