Re:Public Urbanism prepared an updated Township-wide Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Township of Warwick, replacing the 2018 version to ensure alignment with current policy directions, local priorities, and best practices in community revitalization. The Plan provides a coordinated framework to support reinvestment, strengthen local economies, and guide community enhancement across both the Township’s rural areas and its settlement centres of Watford and Warwick Village.
Grounded in the vision of fostering a resilient, welcoming, and inclusive community, the Plan identifies five guiding principles focused on renewing core areas, fostering rural economic resilience, promoting environmental responsibility, and enhancing the public realm through collaboration and leadership.
The updated CIP introduces six financial incentive programs: Additional Dwelling Unit, Agri-Tourism and Rural Economic Development, Building and Site Accessibility, Brownfield Revitalization, Façade and Site Beautification, and Structural Expansion and Improvement. These programs encourage a range of investments—from main street renewal and housing creation to accessibility upgrades and adaptive reuse of buildings.
To complement private investment, the Plan also identifies several municipal leadership initiatives that focus on improving gateways and wayfinding, enhancing public spaces and streetscapes, and investing in parkland and greenspace improvements. Together, these initiatives position the Township to guide community improvement and sustainable growth over the next decade.
