Brampton’s Climate Change Adaptation Plan (CCAP) is a comprehensive document that gives the City a unified approach to evaluate, guide, and integrate Brampton’s diverse policies, plans, programs, and services to become more resilient to the effects of the changing climate. It examines current initiatives and programs, their strengths and weaknesses, other opportunities and constraints, and recommends science-based solutions to increase the City’s resilience to climate change impacts. The CCAP enables the City to understand the actions, plans, and policies being undertaken by adjacent area municipalities, and the impact of their climate action on the City and vice versa. 

As part of the project team, Re:Public focused on the land use planning and policy context for climate action, examining how existing planning frameworks could either enable or constrain climate change mitigation and adaptation. The analysis identified policy barriers, opportunities, and potential municipal levers for integrating climate considerations more directly into land use and development decisions, helping connect the City’s broader climate objectives with the policies and planning tools available to implement them.
