Re:Public Urbanism prepared a Township-wide Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for Adelaide Metcalfe to provide a comprehensive framework supporting local revitalization, economic development, and community pride. The Plan establishes tools and incentives to encourage investment across both urban and rural areas, recognizing the Township’s agricultural foundation while promoting inclusive, accessible, and healthy communities. Its vision—to be a vibrant destination and place to call home, balancing agricultural roots with urban amenities—is supported by guiding principles focused on attainable housing, beautification, mobility, and local business growth.

The Plan was developed in collaboration with community members, local businesses, and Township and County staff through workshops, surveys, and public meetings that helped shape its priorities and programs. It introduces seven financial incentive programs targeting areas such as façade and signage improvement, accessibility, attainable housing, site beautification, rural/agri-tourism investment, and adaptive reuse of existing buildings.

Complementing these programs are four municipal leadership initiatives that guide Township-led improvements in wayfinding and placemaking, Centre Road corridor enhancement, active transportation and safety, and the expansion of public amenities. Through this Plan, the Township aims to foster a coordinated approach to community improvement over the next decade, encouraging both public and private investment in a more vibrant and connected Adelaide Metcalfe.
